Our Research focus

Resolution to many problems in further advance and wider use of Clean Energy Technology lies in system integration and novel use of materials. The Center focuses on developing Clean Energy Systems and Materials, which applies to Wind Energy Systems, Integrated Solar PV-Thermal Systems, Hydrogen Energy, Energy Storage for Renewables, Building Integrated Energy Systems and Materials and Integrated Climate Change Mitigation Strategies.

Energy Systems of the Future

CCESM focuses on developing energy systems that encompass the future of enengy use in 10 to 20 years.
Much higher utilization of renewable energy - increase energy security and reduce climate damage
Distributed energy systems - more suited for renewables, lower transmission and distribution costs
Flexible, reliable, stable and responsive energy supplies
Diversified energy supplies – combined heating, cooling and power
Higher efficiency - for energy generation and end-use

Mission of the Center

Linking research, education, innovation, and policy to transform how energy systems are designed and used in human society.

CCESM serves as Beihang’s focal point for collaboration with internationally renowned universities and research institutions engaged in clean energy research. CCESM is committed to advance the development of non-carbon clean energy system technologies that will lead to a more sustainable global future.

1. Multi-Disciplinary Research for Clean Energy: A focus on development of non-fossil fuel energy technology and integrated energy systems and solutions. Establishment of a strong research team for cutting-edge international clean energy research and development.
2. Innovation: A focus on creating and testing of scientifically sound novel clean energy solutions.
3. Education: Education of future clean energy leaders. Foster creativity in students and researchers. Emphasize innovation in teaching and student participation, including hands-on training. Development of well organized international Clean Energy courses and teaching methods.
4. Industry Linkage: Chinese and International industry linkage. Emphasize development of technologies that are desirable and practical for industrial use.
5. Policy: Link with international organizations and Government agencies to find ways to mitigate climate change and transition into a clean energy future through policy development and implementation strategies.
6. International Focus: Establish alliances with renowned international clean energy institutions. Stress international journal publications and patents.
