Center for Space Environment Science and Technology

The Center for Space Environment Science and Technology (CSEST) of Beihang University was established in 2014, led by Prof. Malcolm W. Dunlop. The main research interests of the center lie in the field of physics processes in space environment and instrumentation technology on spacecraft measurement, especially in,
1. Science in magnetosphere environment
The research of CSEST focuses on the fundamental questions in plasma physics, striving to make important breakthroughs in the areas of magnetic reconnection, particle acceleration and magnetospheric storms, etc. The achievement of our fundamental research will further benefit our application research on modeling hazard processes in Earth’s space environment, such as radiation belt and magnetic storms.
2. Instrumentation technology for magnetosphere measurement

CSEST focuses on developing advanced instruments for measuring magnetic waves and particle properties in space environments.
